(Clayton Falls, #1)

Release Date: September 23rd, 2012
Genre(s): New Adult Contemporary/Romance

My Review: (4.5/5 stars*)

Derailed is fast-paced, utterly captivating, and incredibly well written. I don't feel the covers old and new do the book the justice it deserves. For this reason I was determined to not like it but that became hard to do when I ended up staying up till 5 am in the morning just to finish it. The story is straight forward but in a good way, and the leading lady Molly is easy to connect with. I really enjoyed Derailed from beginning to end it had just enough of everything to keep me hooked. From the sweet blossoming romance to the importance of friendship, and the overcoming of fears to live freely this book will capture your interest.

Molly is a 22-year-old woman whose fiancé dies and she looses her way. Devastated by this she decides to drop out of law school which she never even cared about to begin with and returns to her home town in North Carolina. While she may be running away from her problems in Boston moving back home creates even bigger ones. Her high school sweetheart whose heart she shattered when she decided to leave remains an unresolved and complicated mess. Is she willing to rekindle an old flame or forever carry around her past's burden?

While I usually prefer more angst and conflict I still found this to be a great read especially for romance lovers alike. Alyssa Rose Ivy does a wonderful job at creating a story that touches the heart and makes you smile. Her words are beautifully delivered, and her writing talent is obvious. I'm really excited to read the sequel to Derailed - Veer (Clayton Falls). I'm also greatly looking forward to any and all books penned by this relatively new author! If you enjoy romance with a side of southern charm this novel is for you! Great great great - that's what I thought of this book. Fantastically done 4.5/5 stars.

  Veer
(Clayton Falls, #2)

Release Date: November 29th, 2012
Genre(s): New Adult Contemporary/Romance

My Review: (5/5 stars*)

Veer was every bit as good as Derailed and completely engrossing from just the first couple chapters in. I thought it was even better than the first because it took everything to a deeper level and it was fantastic. The main character Becca was very relatable and I loved that she had a ton of angst which really made the story feel real. I was also incredibly happy to see all of the previous characters from Derailed in this one because they are all so entertaining! I even started liking Jake a lot more who still remained a secondary character but stuck around throughout. I have to point out that both Derailed and Veer are written wonderfully which really made the story engaging and easy to follow which is also yet another reason to read these books!

Veer focuses on Becca Harris who was introduced in Derailed as Molly's best friend from law school. She takes a job at a law office in Clayton Falls for the summer after her initial plans gets thrown off course. Alternating seamlessly between Becca's point of view and Gavin's you get to see each of their lives and how they intertwine. Both their interactions with each other are very amusing and I loved seeing how each of their stories unfolded. It was also nice to glimpse a little of Molly & Ben's happily ever after. Not-to-mention this book has some even steamier scenes between the two romantic interests! Gavin is one confidently sexy southern man with some real charm which makes him absolutely endearing!

Definitely an amazing read for those who love contemporary romances with interesting twists and turns. A great series for a late night or a rainy day as this book will pull at your heart. Hours will pass by while Veer consumes your attention. Alyssa Rose Ivy yet again delivers a beautifully satisfying story of romance, loss, and acceptance. I could hardly find any flaws, both the writing style and the story were terrifically done. I'll definitely be grabbing up the third book to see how Jake's story turns out!

Synopsis:

Only when you let go can you learn to live.Between the death of her mother and pushing through law school without her best friend, it's been a tough year for Becca. Needing a break from Boston, she moves to a tiny coastal North Carolina town for a relaxing summer. After bumping heads repeatedly with a local cop, she realizes her summer will be anything but quiet.

Three years after a career ending injury ruins his chance to play Major League Baseball, Gavin has a distrust of northerners and lately girls in general. He wants nothing to do with a girl who is only in town for the summer.

When the two give in to their impossible attraction, they realize that they may just have found the key to freeing themselves from the ghosts of their pasts.
